Sapphire Anniversary Afternoon Tea

Members and guests gathered together on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 August for the second celebration of the Club’s 45th anniversary. This took the form of an afternoon tea at Gray’s Court in York which started and finished by a presentation of hatwear by Get Ahead Hats. We were blessed by sunny weather so some members took tea in the lovely Gray’s Court garden.

Garden Visit : June 2017

Rather than going for miles for the Club’s annual garden visit, for 2017 it was decided that the Club would come to the home of members Peter and Tony in Earswick and enjoy a visit around the garden accompanied by strawberries and Cava. The weather was rather disappointing (it was wet earlier in the day) but for the time the members were present the rain held off. We were honoured by the presence of the Area Chairman Joan O’Brien.

Competition May 2017

Following on from the blue theme of our 45th anniversary celebrations, our second competition of the 2016/2017 year was on the title “Sapphire Delights”. Pictured are some of the keen competitors. Additionally we were delighted to have helped in a small way some of the intrepid band of trainee judges by giving them experience of a “real” competition. In the background of one of the pictures are Janet Pepper (trainee), Nicola Davies-Murray (trainee), Pam Kitchen (Judge and trainer) and Joan McBurney (trainee).
